In what could be a significant blow for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), they will be without their star overseas batter, Will Jacks, for today’s crucial match against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Jacks, along with teammate Reece Topley, departed from the RCB squad following their victory over the Delhi Capitals last week. They have joined the England squad for their 2024 T20 World Cup preparations. England is set to play a four-match T20I series against Pakistan starting May 22, ahead of the prestigious tournament in June.

Reflecting on his time with RCB in a recent team video, Jacks expressed his appreciation for the support and experience he gained. “It’s been amazing,” Jacks shared. “The fans have made it amazing… I have really loved it. The city, Bangalore, is really cool. It’s been a great experience.” He went on to thank his teammates, noting how much he learned from players like Cameron Green, Lockie Ferguson, and Glenn Maxwell. “I think we have created a really great environment and that has helped us get on as well.”

Jacks’ Impact and Stats

Will Jacks played a pivotal role in RCB’s resurgence this season. After a rough start with just one win in their first eight games, RCB turned things around dramatically, winning five of the next five matches. In his debut season, Jacks amassed 230 runs in eight innings, including a stunning century against the Gujarat Titans, with an impressive strike rate of 175.57 while batting at number three—a position he had rarely occupied for England.

Who Replaces Will Jacks in RCB’s Playing XI?

As many anticipated, Glenn Maxwell has stepped into RCB’s playing XI. The Australian all-rounder had a difficult start to the season and even took a break for his mental well-being. However, both RCB and CSK are aware of Maxwell’s potential to change the game, especially on a ground like Chinnaswamy.

RCB’s Playing XI:

  • Faf du Plessis (c)
  • Virat Kohli
  • Glenn Maxwell
  • Rajat Patidar
  • Cameron Green
  • Mahipal Lomror
  • Dinesh Karthik (wk)
  • Karn Sharma
  • Yash Dayal
  • Lockie Ferguson
  • Mohammed Siraj

With the absence of Will Jacks, all eyes will be on Glenn Maxwell to step up and fill the void in this high-stakes match. Can Maxwell deliver under pressure and help RCB secure a crucial victory? The fans and the team certainly hope so.
