Despite these setbacks, Bumrah has shown remarkable resilience and form since his comeback in August 2023.
Walsh emphasized that Bumrah’s fitness will be crucial for India’s success in the upcoming T20 World Cup in June. He stated, “You can only play if you are fit enough.“
India’s decision to include four spinners in their squad didn’t surprise Walsh, who remarked, “India picking four spinners I’m not surprised… it seems to be their strength.” He also highlighted the importance of balancing the team according to the conditions, especially considering the slow, sluggish pitches expected in the West Indies.
While acknowledging India’s strong pace-bowling unit, Walsh emphasized the competitiveness of the tournament, predicting that “the teams that execute well will be successful.“
As co-hosts of the tournament, West Indies are optimistic about their chances, with Walsh expressing confidence in their balanced team and prospects in the super sixes stage.
