The official social media handles of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) recently shared a hilarious video featuring all-rounders Sunil Narine and Andre Russell. The duo was interviewed following KKR’s brilliant IPL 2024 win, but the twist came when they were asked the viral question, “Final match, you perform. What happening?” This query left both cricketers in splits.
Narine, typically known for his stoic demeanor, broke into spontaneous laughter as soon as the question was posed. On the other hand, Russell, initially almost embarrassed, played along, recreating his iconic “what do you mean?” reaction from the original viral interview.
For those unfamiliar with the context, “Final match, you perform. What happening?” was a question originally asked to Narine, Russell, and Moeen Ali by a reporter during an edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The reporter, not well-versed in English, unintentionally created a memorable moment that went viral.
In the recent video, Narine laughed outright when asked the question, while Russell admitted his surprise, saying:
“I wasn’t expecting that. I was like, serious, ready for a question. I’m like, okay. That was a good one.”
Following their IPL 2024 triumph, KKR has been sharing numerous fun videos on their social media channels. KKR clinched the title by defeating SRH by eight wickets in the final at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Bowling first, Kolkata restricted Hyderabad to 113 runs and then chased down the target in just 10.3 overs.
Russell was outstanding with the ball, recording figures of 3-19 from 2.3 overs. Mitchell Starc and Harshit Rana took two wickets each, while Narine chipped in with the scalp of Jaydev Unadkat, conceding only 16 runs in his four overs. Although Narine was dismissed for 6 in the chase, Venkatesh Iyer (52 off 26) and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (39 off 32) ensured a comprehensive victory for KKR.**
