Team India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was recently spotted strolling the streets of New York, part of the first batch of cricketers to arrive in the United States for the 2024 T20 World Cup.
With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 now concluded, the focus has swiftly shifted to the highly anticipated T20 competition. The event will kick off on June 1, hosted by the West Indies and the USA.
As preparations intensify, many teams have already touched down in the host nations. Indian cricketers from IPL teams that didn’t make it to the playoffs were among the early arrivals in New York.
Jadeja shared pictures of his New York outing on social media, looking stylish in denim shorts and a black t-shirt, complete with a black cap. He captioned his post: “Beautiful weather in NYC 🇺🇸.”
India will begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 5 in New York. Placed in Group A, they will face off against Pakistan, USA, Ireland, and Canada.
The Men in Blue are eager to break their ICC event drought, having last won in 2013. The previous T20 World Cup in Australia saw them crash out in the semi-finals, defeated by eventual champions England by 10 wickets.
How Did Ravindra Jadeja Fare in IPL 2024?
Representing Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Ravindra Jadeja had an average IPL 2024 season. He took only eight wickets and scored 267 runs at an average of 44.50 across 14 games, including one half-century.
Despite his efforts, Jadeja couldn’t steer CSK into the playoffs. The defending champions finished fifth, missing out on the top four due to a lower Net Run Rate (NRR) compared to the fourth-placed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
As India gears up for the T20 World Cup, Jadeja and his teammates will be looking to bring their A-game and end the country’s long wait for an ICC trophy.
